Southern Village Neighborhood of Chapel Hill

Established in 1994, Southern Village is a large and extrmemly popular neighborhood in Chapel Hill. It includes 550 single-family homes, 375 townhomes and condominiums and 250 apartments, all in varying price ranges. Southern Village was even the top selling neighborhood in the Triangle from 1999 to 2001!

Apartments and the smaller homes typically start around $145,000, though the larger or more historic homes can go over one million. The homes are in several styles, though residents can enjoy the beautiful landscaping and lush greens throughout the neighborhood.

 

The community is close to the Greenway Trail, which forms part of a bike trail system throughout Chapel Hill and the Triangle. Nearby is also the Southern Community Park, offering soccer fields, dog-walking park, a playground with cookout area, roller hockey rink, and an extension of the Fan Branch Trail.

 

There is a quaint market area within just a couple minutes of the neighborhood where residents can enjoy specialty shops, restaurants, and events hosted throughout the year. The weekends often play host to live music, art festivals, children’s activities, or pop-up farmer’s markets.

Residents have convenience and opportunities for community fun right in their backyard with close proximity to Market Street. There is even a neighborhood clubhouse that features a pool and tennis courts.
